DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- For most of the season, the top-ranked Dinwiddie Generals put games in cruise control. That changed Friday night when Thomas Dale gave the Generals their toughest game of the year. Despite the tough match-up, the Generals remained undefeated after a 28-19 win.
The game was tied at seven at halftime after Dinwiddie blocked a Knights punt and recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.
It was the first time all season the Generals were held without an offensive touchdown in the first half.
After Knights running back Max Oxendine three-yard touchdown gave Thomas Dale a 13-7 lead, K'Vaughan Pope returned a kickoff 87 yards for the touchdown to give the Generals the lead for the first time 14-13.
Dinwiddie would score 14 points in the fourth quarter, on a Zyan Sturdivant touchdown and a Tye Freeland touchdown run, off two Thomas Dale turnovers that proved to be the difference.
The Generals improved to 6-0 on the season while Thomas Dale fell to 4-2 on the year.
