Former pizza shop owner gets life sentence for rape

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — The man who owned Maria’s New York Deli and Pizzeria in Mineral was sentenced to life in prison for rape.

In addition to the life prison sentence, 52-year-old Rick Alessi was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined $10,000 on each of two aggravated sexual battery charges, according to Adam Ward with the Louisa Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.

Alessi’s rape victim was a family member, the Central Virginian reported.

He was arrested in August 2015.
