Man cuts minimart worker’s neck with knife

RICHMOND, Va. — A Richmond convenience store owner was cut with a knife during a Wednesday morning fight at the Cary Street Mini Mart near VCU’s Monroe Park campus, according to police.

“An intoxicated suspect entered the Cary Street Mini Mart [and was] asked to leave by staff,” VCU Police issued in an alert to the campus community. “The suspect cut a staff member on the neck with a knife, before fleeing southbound toward the Randolph neighborhood.”

The victim, identified by Richmond Police as the store’s owner, was treated at the scene.

“Police received a call about 30 minutes later reporting the suspect had returned to the area of the store,” Richmond Police spokeswoman Susan Rowland said. “Officers arrested Dewon A. Bradshaw, 30, of the 1200 block of Wallace Street. He is charged with malicious wounding.”
