RICHMOND, Va - Civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke to students at VCU ahead of the first Vice Presidential Debate Tuesday night.

Rev. Jackson was there to express his support for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. He said he feels good about tonight's debate at Longwood University.

"His spirits will shine," he said of candidate Tim Kaine, who Jackson said "sees the world through a door and not a keyhole."

"He doesn't have to try to justify Trump," Jackson added, meaning that opponent Mike Pence has to do do. "I think that Hillary represents a train of thought that's good for the healing of our nation."

Rev. Jackson is one of Tim Kaine's special guests at the debate in Farmville.

Jackson also joined local student volunteers to help register voters at VCU.

You can listen to his remarks in the video above, and below, listen to a political analyst discuss the upcoming debate.
