DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Officials said a man on trial for murder simply walked out of a DeKalb County courthouse Monday just before the verdict was read.
Taiquan Mitchell was on trial for a murder in 2014, but officials told WGCL he was out on bond and wearing an ankle bracelet.
Just before the verdict was read in the murder trial, officials said Mitchell went missing from the DeKalb County Superior Courthouse.
Officials said Mitchell is now considered a fugitive convicted murderer since the verdict came back guilty.
Mitchell likely walked out of one of the courthouse doors since he was wearing a suit and was not in restraints, according to a spokesperson with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s office.
