CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Three Chesterfield County roads are closed Thursday morning due to heavy rain that fell overnight.

Cogbill Road is currently closed between Emblem Drive and Castlewood Road.

"Drivers may consider traveling Castlewood Road to Walmsley Blvd to avoid delays," Chesterfield Police Lt. Jason Stocks said.

Chester Road is currently closed between Old Lane and Centralia Road.

"Use Hopkins Road or Jefferson Davis Highway as an alternate route," Stocks said.

At least two cars got stuck in the high water there overnight. A tow truck had to be called to remove one of the flooded cars.

Willis Road at Coach Road is currently closed.

"Use Jefferson Davis Highway to Reymet Road as an alternative," Stocks suggested.

The storms also knocked out power to thousands of Dominion Virginia Power customers. At midnight Wednesday, more than 5,000 customers in the Metro area were without power. By 6 a.m. Thursday, more than 10,000 people were in the dark.
