HOPEWELL, Va - The Dinwiddie Generals are the number 1 team in our CBS 6/FoxSports 910 High School poll for the first time, and get one of the toughest tests on their schedule when they travel to Merner Field in Hopewell to take on the Blue Devils this Friday night.

Records:

Dinwiddie (3-0)  Hopewell (2-1)

Last Week:

Dinwiddie was off. Hopewell beat Hanover 28-13

Inside the numbers:

Dinwiddie owns the third longest active playoff streak in the Central Region at 9 straight years, trailing only L.C. Bird (17) and Hanover (10).

The top ranked team in our CBS 6/FoxSports 910 poll has lost in each of the last 2 weeks.

Quoteable:

Billy Mills, Generals head coach: "I tell the guys, in 2013 (won state 4A title) we weren't ranked. In 2010 we weren't ranked. You worry about where you're ranked at the end of the year. That's what's important. If you start looking at that stuff too much, your mind stars getting off what's important."

Ricky Irby, Blue Devils head coach: "We had a slip up against a really good, well coached Powhatan team. I was really proud of our team and how we responded last week against Hanover in a game that could have been a hangover effect. We came out and scored two touchdowns early and held that lead for most of the game. It showed me a lot of the character that this team has."

Sean Robertson spoke more with each coach about how similar these programs are, from their students, to their school size to their style of play.
