HENRICO, Va. – A week before his jury trial was scheduled, a Henrico man entered a guilty plea in the murder of 12-year-old Amiya Moses.
Shaquille D. Maxwell, 20, of the 700 block of Windomere Avenue, took a second-degree murder charge when he entered a guilty plea.
Moses was standing outside a Northside apartment complex in the 4900 block of Old Brook Road when a car drove up and someone started shooting. Investigators said the shooting was part of an ongoing neighborhood dispute.
Three men were charged with first-degree murder for her death. In July, a judge found Davarn “DJ” Hancock, 22, of Chesterfield, guilty of first-degree murder.
Dwight Q. Jackson, 20, also of Windomere Avenue, has not been prosecuted yet. His trial was slated for May, but was continued so the defense team could have more time to go over forensic evidence submitted by the prosecution.
Moses was a sixth-grader at Henderson Middle School, and had just turned 12, two weeks before her murder, on Dec. 3.
