HENRICO, Va. – A criminal struck at the Stuffy's Sub shop in the Gayton Road shopping center, on Labor Day.

The manager said that the suspect came in around 4:45 p.m. and first went into the bathroom. Then the thief headed to the counter and demanded money.

Investigators said he acted like he had a weapon, but police said that nothing was actually displayed.

The manager believes the timing is not a coincidence.

“Definitely the fact that it was a holiday,” Benjamin Lahoussine. “The individual must have known that most of the businesses in the shopping center would be closing that day.”

“There was only two other businesses on this side that were open at the time of the incident took place,” he added.

The manager said that his employee did the right thing by handing over the cash.

He said that the suspect fled with about $215 in cash.

Police said the man was wearing a black Cincinnati Reds baseball cap, raincoat, hooded sweater and black shorts.
