RICHMOND, Va. — Uber is introducing a new feature that will allow passengers to schedule rides in advance.

With just a few taps in the app, riders can schedule their ride 30 minutes to 30 days in advance and have the comfort of knowing an Uber will be there when it’s time to head out.

The company said this capability is one of the top-requested features from riders, especially business travelers.

Starting September 1, Uber will roll out the Scheduled Riders feature to riders who have business profiles or are linked to their company’s “Uber for Business Account.”

The option to schedule ahead will roll out to all riders in the next few weeks, the company said.

A “Business Profile” allows a rider to  remove the stress around expensing by simply selecting whether a ride is for personal or business. The user can keep business and personal rides separate in one tap.

The service is set up so that the rider can easily charge the correct card, add expense memos and project codes, have the receipt sent to a work email. It is intended to make weekly or monthly travel reports easier to file.
