Thieves steal 3 vehicles, enter dozens more in Chesterfield neighborhood

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Nearly 40 cars parked in the Chestnut Hills neighborhood, near Courthouse and Providence road, were broken into Tuesday, according to Chesterfield Police.

Nearly 20 car owners reported items missing from their vehicles.

At least three vehicles were stolen, two of the stolen vehicles were later recovered.

Laura Lee Ashburn's  2012 red Honda Civic was stolen and is still missing. She said someone stole her husband's car from outside their Dorel Lane home.

"We found my husband’s car stolen at 6 a.m. His EZ Pass shows toll charges at 4:30 a.m. so the vandalism must have occurred prior or near that time," Ashburn said.

The following car break-ins and thefts were also reported:

5300 block of Ridgerun Court – a truck was reported stolen; the vehicle was unlocked and may have had a spare key inside. The vehicle was recovered in Richmond.

10300 block of Ridgerun Road – a truck was reported stolen; the vehicle had been left unlocked. The vehicle was recovered nearby, on Seacliff Court.

2500 block of Grassy Knoll Lane (six vehicles entered)

10200 block of Sauna Drive (four vehicles entered)

2500 block of Dorel Lane (two vehicles entered)

10300 block of Seacliff Lane (five vehicles entered)

10300 block of Dorel Court (one vehicle entered)

10400 block of Ridgerun Road (four vehicles entered)

10500 block of Ridgerun Road (two vehicles entered)

10300 block of Ridgerun Road (five vehicles entered)

2500 block of Grassy Knoll Lane

"Detectives are actively investigating these incidents, and we’d ask that anyone with information call police or Crime Solvers," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "As always, police encourage residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from them."
