WINCHESTER, Va. -- A Virginia community has raised enough money to help a 10-week-old German Sheppard puppy get prosthetics.
“Hope” was born without fully formed paws on her rear legs.
Some kind donors in Winchester raised more than $5,000 to get her artificial limbs.
The surgery itself could cost up to $10,000.
Dakota's Dream Animal Rescue says the surgery is needed because Hope's whole body is off-balance and it could cause long-term damage to her spine.
“Even though she’s missing the one paw and only has part of the other one, she plays with the other dogs, and you can’t even tell,” said Greg Vorhees, Hope’s foster parent.
Her foster parents plan to eventually train “Hope” to become a therapy dog.
