US Marshals nab man wanted for role in Henrico motel murder

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- U.S. Marshals have arrested a 34-year-old man in Chesapeake wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at a Motel 6 in Henrico County's East End.

The crime happened on June 10 at the Motel 6 on Williamsburg Road near the airport.

Walter Darnell Adams Jr., 20, of Sandston, was killed in the shooting. A second man suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

"On Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Marshals and members of the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office and Chesapeake Police Department and arrested 34-year-old Winston Bernard Black Jr. in Chesapeake," Deputy U.S. Marshal Chris Leuer said. "Black, a longtime Portsmouth resident, was charged for allegedly shooting a man to death on June 10, 2016, at the Motel 6 on Williamsburg Road in Henrico. On August 18, 2016, Black was charged with attempted first degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony for his alleged role in this shooting, and the Henrico Police Department asked the U.S. Marshals to locate and arrest Black. "

Black is being held at the Chesapeake City Jail pending extradition to Henrico County.
