GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. -- The first day of school is right around the corner so that means teachers and staff members are busy getting the classrooms ready. School officials at Goochland Middle said their unsung heroes are two custodians, Harry Robinson and Becky Allen.
The school is down one custodian and the school system has been unable to fill the position so both Harry and Becky have been doing extra work like mowing and weeding in addition to their normal duties.
So CBS 6 Anchor Reba Hollingsworth, with the help of Union Bank and Trust, surprised the pair of school custodians who have gone above and beyond this summer.
“We wanted to do something special as this school year is about to begin,” Reba told Harry and Becky. “We have something very special for the two of you, because you do a lot to get the school ready. This is a $200 gift card for you and a $200 gift card for you.”
Becky immediately gave Reba a tight squeeze with tears rolling down her face.
“Wow,” expressed Harry, as Goochland Middle teachers and staff members cheered.
Staff members thanked Harry and Becky with big hugs to show appreciation for their hard work.
“We just want to say thank you for all that you do,” said Reba.
