5th Annual RVA BrewBQ Festival to benefit Enrichmond, Sunday from 12-5pm at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market.  Sample Some of your favorite BBQ classics, ribs, brisket, wings, pulled sandwiched and served with coleslaw from area restaurants like Buz & Ned’s and Alamo, and new this year Saucy’s, Smok-N-Pigz and Inner City Blues and vegetarian dishes by Thai Top Ten and The Cultured Swine. The Pocahontas Live Concert Series at Pocahontas State Park Thursday, August 18 concert featuring Reggae greats UB40 with founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue will now be held at the Historic Beacon Theatre in Hopewell. The annual Gwar-B-Q Kick-off Bash is Friday at the National, 708 E. Broad Street, doors open at 2, show starts 2:15. 26th annual Downhome Family Reunion is Saturday, from 4 -11pm in Abner Clay Park, at Belvidere and West Leigh Streets (at I-95 ^ Exit 76B) , Historic Jackson Ward, featuring R&B Legendary group The Intruders, Puerto Rico’s Luis y Su Revolu, Reggae Band Adwela and the Uprising, African Dance, music and Oral Tradition with the Elegba Folklore Society and Emcee J. Ron Fleming. There will be events for children in the Annie Tyler New School Pavilion, art, hand-made items and imports at the Juanita Ragland Heritage Market and community service providers on Waverly Crawley Community Row.
