RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are trying to locate the man who robbed a convenience store on Richmond's Southside back in July.

Detectives released surveillance video and photos of the man they say robbed the FasMart at 5200 Hull Street on Friday, July 9.

Officers were called to the store at 2:25 p.m. following an incident that started when the suspect walked in and asked to use the restroom.

When he was told it was unavailable, the man then walked outside, smoked a cigarette and reentered the store under the guise he was shopping.

Shortly after the last customer left the store, the suspect walked up to the counter and asked for a carton of cigarettes.

When the clerk came back with the carton, the suspect said he had a gun in his bag and demanded money.

The suspect then told the clerk to lock himself inside the store's backroom.

The suspect was last seen running northbound down Warwick Road.

The suspect is described as a black male between 23-28 years old, between 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, dark green or camouflage pants and black shoes during the robbery. He was also seen with a tan fishing hat.

If you have information that could help police, call Derrick Longoria at 804-646-8171 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip or submit a tip online at www.7801000.com.
