Hopewell to host exclusive screening for ‘Imperium,’ shot in Central Virginia

HOPEWELL, Va. — The bright lights of Hollywood is returning to the City of Hopewell for an exclusive screening of ‘Imperium,’ the movie starting Daniel Radcliffe that was shot in the area in fall of 2015.

The screening will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Beacon Theatre.

“We were so honored to be chosen as the location for this film, and so grateful to our partners at the Virginia Film Office for their support in making it happen,” said Charles Dane, Hopewell assistant city manager. “The project was enthusiastically embraced by our businesses and our citizens, many of whom served as extras for the film, and this will be a proud day for the city of Hopewell.”

The screening is closed to the public, but once again multiple members of the cast and crew will be in town to celebrate the occasion.

Director and co-writer Daniel Ragussis and actors Sam Trammell, Nestor Carbonell, and Virginia native Devin Druid are expected to be on hand for the evening.

“We could not be happier to welcome back our friend Daniel Ragussis and many members of the cast and crew of this remarkable film,” said Dane.

In addition, more than 600 invited guests, including city and regional officials and representatives from the Virginia Film Office will be in attendance.

In ‘Imperium,’ Daniel Radcliffe stars as Nate Foster, a young, idealistic FBI agent who goes undercover to find and stop white supremacists trying to make a dirty bomb.

The story line was inspired by real events and based on the experiences of FBI undercover agent Michael German, who worked within neo-Nazi and militia groups.

The movie is slated to be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters and On Demand on August 19.
