RICHMOND, Va. – A Richmond man has been sentenced to life in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to killing a man on the dance floor of a Richmond nightclub earlier this year.
Trevell A. Harvey, 27, was convicted in the shooting death of Jerquell Cheatham, 21, during a January 18 incident at the Illusions Night Club on Midlothian Turnpike.
Harvey received life in prison for the first degree murder charge and an additional three years for a use of a firearm in the commission of a felony conviction.
Harvey’s previous rap sheet includes assault, drug and firearm charges dating back to 2007.
During the January shooting, investigators say several off-duty Richmond Police officers were working security at the club when Cheatam was shot.
Two other were injuries during the incident, one from a gunshot wound and the other from being struck by a car in the parking lot. Those injuries were non-life threatening.
