Hip Hop Hooray! Classic Hip-Hop radio comes to Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond’s newest radio station promises to bring the old school back — for fans of classic Hip-Hop.

G104.3 FM launched Tuesday on Richmond radio dials. The classic Hip-Hop station previewed its arrival by playing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s hit “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” on a 24-hour loop.

“This station appeals to a diverse group of listeners who grew up embracing Hip-Hop Culture and listening to Hip-Hop,” G104.3 Program Director Melissa Chase said. “While they have matured in age, lifestyle, and social awareness they are still extremely passionate about this music.”

The station will focus on Hip-Hop from the 80s, 90s, and 00s.

SummitMedia Richmond also operates Country K-95 (WKHK 95.3 FM), Classic Rock 96.5 FM (WKLR), Classic Hits Star 100.9 (WJSR-FM), Adult Contemporary 103.7 Play (WURV) and Top 40 Hot 106.1 (WURV HD2).
