RICHMOND, Va. -- Every once in a while CBS 6 is contacted by a family in need of help. We recently learned about Mr. and Mrs. Williams of South Richmond, who are both diabetics, on disability and recently ran out of food.

So CBS 6 reporter Shelby Brown, with help from Union Bank and Trust, surprised the family with groceries as a part of our CBS 6 Gives campaign.

“We just wanted to share with you on behalf of our CBS 6 Gives. Because we love you, we love our viewers and we do anything we can do help out,” said Shelby.

“Thank you. This is more than appreciated. I appreciate this so much,” Mrs. Williams replied.

Shelby personally went to the grocery store to pick up some canned goods, meats, drinks, eggs, milk, and other items.

“I don’t know where to begin it’s so much,” she said with a smile.

“We love you at channel 6 news,” Shelby told the couple. “We certainly appreciate you reaching out to us. Anything we can do to help, we were happy to do it.”
