RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia-born filmmaker Colette Burson is coming home to make her next movie.

Burson will direct “Permanent,” a feature film set in 1980s Virginia.

While Burson grew up in Abingdon and attended the University of Virginia, her film will be shot in locations around Central Virginia starting in early August, according to the Virginia Film Office.

“I feel like I can deliver a movie that looks way beyond my budget because all my Virginia locations are incredibly beautiful and authentic. And I’m not shooting a historical piece; mine is a comedy set in 1983!” she said.

The film is set to star Patricia Arquette (“Boyhood”) and Rainn Wilson (“The Office”).

Wilson is in town already. En Su Boca, a taco restaurant on Boulevard, posted a photo of the actor earlier this week.

“Colette Burson is a fantastically talented writer and director, and we are delighted that her smart and sweet comedy will be shot here in the Commonwealth,” Director of the Virginia Film Office Andy Edmunds said. “Projects like ‘Permanent’ bring jobs to our experienced local crew and unparalleled opportunities for new workers in the industry, helping to grow the production infrastructure and, in turn, attract more productions. We’re honored to host this dynamic film.”
