Mom found dead in front seat, child safe in back of car

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. -- A Pennsylvania man was charged with First Degree Murder in the death of a 24-year-old woman whose body was found in car Thursday afternoon.

Willie J. Bibbs, Sr., 64, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was also charged with Use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim has been identified as Sharece Branche, 24, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

"Branche was located in the vehicle at the scene of the crash with an apparent gunshot wound to the head," Hanover Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. James Cooper said. "The third occupant of the vehicle at the time of the motor vehicle crash was a three-year-old female. The child was the daughter of the victim and was unharmed in this incident."

Investigators did not discuss a connection between Branch and Bibbs.

Deputies responded to the crash at about 12:20 p.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike, near Sujen Court.

"Investigators continue to gather information and collect evidence," Cooper said.

Bibbs is incarcerated at Pamunkey Regional Jail with no bond.
