RICHMOND, Va. – Sweet Frog doesn’t want the scorching days of summer to melt local Pokémon GO fanatics as they work hard to nab elusive pocket monsters.

In Central Virginia we are looking at two days where the heat index will be over a 100 degrees.

So Sweet Frogs are offering Pokémon hunters a haven from the heat, and a discount on yogurt.

Local Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt shops are launching a Pokémon GO Takeover July 22-24.

They are offering Pokémon GO players an air-conditioned pit stop and a cool yogurt treat at a heavily discounted price (up to 50% off any in-store purchase) according to the level players have achieved in the game.

These discounts are as follows:

  • Level 1-5:  10% discount on one purchase
  • Level 6-15:  25% discount on one purchase
  • Level 16+:  50% discount on one purchase

They have also launched a social media contest that encourages Pokémon GO players to share photos/screenshots of Pokémon that they’ve caught at Sweet Frog shops using the hashtag #sweetfrogpokemon.

Sweet Frog is giving away daily prizes including t-shirts, plush toys and gift cards, which will be awarded to randomly selected winners.

Tag Sweet Frog on FacebookInstagram and Twitter until Sunday, July 24 for a chance to win.

A lot of the yogurt shops are “PokéStops” and/or located in shopping centers designated as “PokéGyms.”

“As a family and community-focused brand, we are thrilled to help our customers and employees take part in this fun international phenomenon,” said Matt Smith, sweetFrog’s Chief Marketing Officer.  “We’re excited to witness first-hand how Pokémon GO brings families and friends together while creating quite a buzz in our shops.”
