HENRICO, Va. -- A Henrico resident said he has been calling VDOT for years to help with a section of road that needs to badly be repaved.

Jason Joseph is frustrated, by bumps and by repeat phone calls to fix the bumps.

The stretch runs along Nine Mile Road, between Creighton Court and Dabbs House Road in Henrico’s East End.

He said that workers have patched some potholes, but the road itself needs to be repaved at this point.

Joseph said it's an aggravating ride and each patched and re-patched pothole leaves “random speed bumps everywhere.”

He called it a safety hazard to navigate.

“If you're swerving into the other lane you can definitely cause an accident or someone could run into you.”

Joseph said he's been trying to get VDOT to respond with a solution for the past few years. This week he reached out to CBS 6 Problem-Solvers for help with his dilemma.

We asked VDOT officials what they think of the bumpy ride along Nine Mile Road and when their schedule called for a repaving.

“We have been doing spot treatments over the past couple of years,” Bethanie Glover explained.

Now we recognize it is time to resurface the road completely and we plan to do that in the next 12 to 18 months, for a smoother riding surface.

Joseph said that work can’t come fast enough, because the repairs are getting expensive.

“There are a lot of bumps in the road where your car is bouncing, literally, and I actually had to get my vehicle fixed,” he said.

“I would say in the past two years I’ve probably put out $2,500,” he said.

“If they wish to make a claim for damages, they can always contact VDOT customer service center at 800-367-7623, or fill out a quick form online,” Glover said.
