Man turns himself in after Chesterfield police pursuit

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A man has turned himself in to law enforcement following a Friday morning police pursuit.

The initial pursuit was initiated by Virginia State Police in Amelia County, according to law enforcement sources. Chesterfield Police were then notified when the driver headed back into Chesterfield on River Road.

Chesterfield Police eventually called off the pursuit, but kept a plane in the air looking for the suspect.

The air unit spotted the suspect's car near Ivey Mill Road, according to police.

Police used K9 units to search for the man.

The man eventually turned himself in at police headquarters.

Police have not yet announced any arrests in connection to this case.

Police have not commented on what prompted the initial pursuit.
