RICHMOND, Va. – A Chesterfield mom and her daughter put a particular item at the top of their to-do list on Thursday.

Under the beating sun, Kelly Blanks and her daughter Kailey shuffled an air-conditioner unit to their car-- to make the more than 10- mile trek to the city.

It’s a gift that'll pull double duty for Elsie Valentine -- one that'll cool her Southside home and warm her heart at the same time.

Blanks says it was a recent Problem Solvers story on CBS 6 that grabbed her attention and her heart strings, and inspired her to pay it forward.

She called Problem Solvers and askedif we could help her find someone in need of an AC.

The 76-year-old woman's call came in about the same time Valentine’s central air unit broke down.

“OOHHH girl, it has been miserable!,” exclaimed Valentine.

“That is wonderful,” Valentine added. “I feel so overjoyed and it makes my heart glad.”

“You give to others,” Blanks said. “Help others when you can.”

“…and it always comes back to you,” Valentine said. “It does. It's just what life is about.”

The AC unit couldn't come at a better time, with the heat index expected to reach well over 100 on the weekend days.
