Missing 6-month-old found safe, two in police custody
APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. — A missing teenager, her 6-month-old son, and another missing teen has been located after being missing in Appomattox County since Saturday, July 16.
Calysta Marie Tichenor, 17, and her six-month-old son Jason were located at a Campbell County residence shortly after 5 p.m., Wednesday. Tichenor’s boyfriend, Chance Lobo, was also located at the residence.
Calysta Tichenor and Lobo are in the custody of the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office. Jason Tichenor will be turned over to the custody of the Appomattox County Social Services.
“I especially want to thank the public for the information provided to us during the course of this search,” said Appomattox County Sheriff Barry Letterman. “The safe recovery of this infant and his mother were the direct result of the cooperative and dedicated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies and the public coming forth with tips.”
The investigation into the juveniles’ disappearance remains ongoing at this time.
The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for the mother and child who were last seen Saturday, WDBJ7 reported.
The Virginia State Police and Virginia Missing Children’s Clearinghouse have issued an endangered missing child alert in the case.
Jason is believed to be in danger and was last seen at 6385 old Evergreen Road, in Appomattox. Tichenor and the baby are believed to be traveling with Tichenor’s boyfriend, Chance Lobo, 16, in a maroon 1995 Dodge pick-up truck.
The truck has a license plate — VCC-8954.
Jason suffers from a medical condition and is without required medication.
Tichenor is described as a white female, 5 feet 4 inches, 170 pounds, with hazel eyes and black hair. Lobo is described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
