Spotsylvania man accused of threatening the life, pulling firearm on Deputy

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — A Spotsylvania man has been arrested affer being accused of threatening the life and pulling a firearm on a Spotsylvania County Deputy.

The incident occurred on Thursday, July, 14 when a Deputy was responding to a call for service in the area of Glade Road.

Police said when a Deputy arrived to the area, William Chandler, Jr., who was seated in a vehicle, brandished a firearm at him and “yelled in a threatening manner.”

At that point the Deputy took evasive action, preparing to engage the suspect.

Chandler, 28, then fled the scene in a black Hyundai sedan.

The Deputy called for back explaining the incident. The information was transmitted by the E-911 Communications Center, to all surrounding jurisdictions, including the Fredericksburg Police Department.

spoty mapPolice said after Chandler fled the scene he crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Plank Road and Bragg Road, near Spotsylvania Towne Centre.

The crash caused non-life threatening injuries to another person in the vehicle.

Police said Chandler then fled the scene on foot and was arrested by a Fredericksburg police officer several minutes later.

Chandler was turned over to Spotsylvania Deputies, who charged him with numerous felony and misdemeanor crimes.

He was ordered to be held without bond, by the Magistrate and was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
