DINWIDDIE, Va. — The driver of a tractor-trailer died when their rig ran off the road and overturned.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m., on Interstate 85 southbound, near the Hamilton Arms Road Overpass in Dinwiddie County

The truck ran off road to the left, struck a ditch and overturned.  The truck was loaded with shingles.

The driver, the sole occupant of the truck,  died at the scene.

Police said it is unknown if the driver had on a seatbelt.

It appears driver fatigue may have been a factor in the crash, according to Virginia State Police Trooper T. R. McKay, who is investigating the crash.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin notification can be made.
