The International film competition will begin filming from July 15 to 17. Team leaders will gather participants to write, shoot, and edit a 4 to 7 minute film in 48 hours.

The kickoff event will be held Friday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. at The Camel, located at 1621 West Broad Street. The registration fee for a team is $175. Registration ends on July 15.

All films submitted will have their premieres on July 23 and 24 at The Byrd Theatre and a selection of the best films will screen at the best of event on July 31 at The Byrd.

The public is welcome to come and tickets are available on the website.

People of all ages, and skill and experience levels can compete and finish a film. All films shown are eligible for audience recognition, and those that are submitted on-time are judged for various awards by a local filmmaker panel.

The film declared to be the overall “Best Film” of Richmond will be sent to the international 48HFP competition, Filmapalooza, to be screened and judged with 140 city winners from around the globe.

From there, 10 films are chosen to screen in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes International Film Festival.
