DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. – Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Investigators have arrested and charged a man wanted for stealing from a 71-year-old Dinwiddie woman while she was in the hospital.
Robert Lee Hall, 44, of Waverly has been charged with credit card theft and habitual larceny.
The Dinwiddie woman, too scared to identify herself publicly, said her check book, debit card and cash had been taken.
To make matters worse, she called her bank and learned someone took all the money out of her account to the tune of $4,000.
The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office said close to 15 checks totaling close to $4,000.00 had been forged and cashed across the Tri-Cities area.
After CBS 6’s story aired along with a surveillance photo of the suspect cashing one of the checks, the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office received several tips identifying Hall as the person in the image.
Hall was arrested Wednesday after investigators discovered he had a court appearance in Sussex County.
Late Wednesday afternoon, sources told WTVR CBS 6 that the crime is believed to have taken place in a different jurisdiction.
