CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – An emergency pavement repair has closed the left lane of Rt. 288 northbound, near Iron Bridge Rd.
The closure is due to the pavement buckling, which is caused by extreme heat.
VDOT says crews are on the way to make emergency repairs. The repairs will include pouring new concrete, which will require several hours to properly set.
VDOT says drivers can expect major delays through rush hour and are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.
The backup is currently 3 miles as of 5:00 p.m.
