PETERSBURG, Va. – An investigation is ongoing after a body was found along Interstate 95 in Petersburg on Wednesday.

The body was believed to be a person who was ejected from a car during a Tuesday night police pursuit that ended in a crash near Interstate 95 and South Crater Road, according to police sources.

"One of the people in the car was ejected," reporter Jon Burkett said. "And they have just found that body two nights later."

The investigation closed the ramp from I-95 south to S. Crater Road (Exit 50). The ramp has since reopened.

After Monday night's pursuit, police found one person inside the crashed vehicle.

We have reached out to police for more information and have yet to hear back.

This is a developing story.
