N.C. victim struck by train in Richmond was ‘walking on tracks’

RICHMOND, Va. – The victim fatally struck by an eastbound CSX freight train was a 50-year-old man from North Carolina.

The Richmond Police Department identified the victim, who was struck by a train on Tuesday, June 21, as Albert Reid, 50, of the 3200 block of Reid Taylor Road, Sherrils Ford, North Carolina.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of the 2400 block of Magnolia Court for a report of a male struck by an eastbound CSX freight train.

Reid was pronounced dead at the scene, which was between Magnolia Court and Valley Road. A train employee reported Reid had been walking on the tracks when he was struck.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Major Crimes detectives are conducting the death investigation.
