CREWE, Va. — When you first see it, you might be dubious of its authenticity. Lightning photos are hard enough for amateurs to master on their smartphone cameras.

So, one would assume, a near perfect image of a lightning strike next to a rainbow would be downright impossible to capture.

Don’t tell that to 18-year-old Hailey Monroe. The Crewe teenager insists the photo she took Tuesday afternoon is 100 percent the real deal.

“Very lucky picture!” Monroe said about her beautiful photo. “I took the photo just to get a picture of the double rainbow after softball practice at the Crewe ballpark.”

Just then, Mother Nature added some drama to the already beautiful photo.

“I really don’t know how I took it like this because the lightning literally hit once I snapped the photo,” she said. “I was so ecstatic when I saw that I captured something so beautiful. I showed my friends at practice and they loved it.”

We love it too!
