RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond fire officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a business on Jefferson Davis Highway early Thursday morning. The fire department got a call around 4:40 a.m.

When fire crews arrived at the tire shop -- located at 4218 Jeff Davis Highway -- they found heavy smoke coming from the burning rubber.

Crews had the fire under control in less than an hour, Richmond Fire spokesman Lt. Chris Armstrong said.

No one was injured in the fire, and the flames did not spread to nearby businesses.

Armstrong said around the same time of the building fire, crews responded to a car fire across the street.

He did not know if the two fires were related.
