RICHMOND, Va. – A tree smashed into a car parked outside a Richmond restaurant as a powerful line of storms moved through Central Virginia Thursday evening.
Tommy Norris said he was fortunate everyone was inside Emilio’s restaurant in the 1800 block of W. Broad Street when the large tree snapped.
“No one was in the car,” Norris said. “That is one of the last big trees in the Fan. We already lost so many. The city had been warned this one was next, and I wasn't aware of that until now."
The storm knocked out power to more than 173,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers in Central Virginia.
