RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond metal bands Lamb of God, GWAR,  and  Muncipal  Waste have a global audience, and many more bands –of all genres — call the River City home.

That’s why a recent post on VICE decreed Richmond to be in the top five of Most Metal Cities in America.

The author put data from the “Encylopaedia Metallum” against census data and ran a check on active bands versus non-active.

The number one most metal city is Cleveland, Ohio followed by Portland, Ore., Pittsburg, Pa., Rochester, N.Y. and then Richmond.

If you click over to the post, by author Simon Davis, you can see the other 95 in the top 100.
