HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — The Henrico Public Library is now offering a free service where you can stream movies, TV shows, and music to your tablet, or smartphone.

Launched under the titled Hoopla, the streaming app allows cardholders to checkout streaming media for seven days.

“We are looking to offer it to people who may not have high-speed internet at home. They can access it here [at the library]. Anyone could use it,” Henrico library spokeswoman Kara Rothman said. “The vendors choose the content, which have a good mix of whatever available. It can be from children shows like Chugginton to Jillian Anderson workout videos and documentaries. It has such a wide variety.”

The library said Hoopla works like Netflix and Spotify.

Hoopla is available for Apple IOS and Android phone and tablets for free download, with a digital library spanning by the hundreds of thousands for cardholders to have access any time, any place as long as they have their library card and email address.
