HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police are looking for two men they say forced their way into a Henrico townhouse at gunpoint.
The crime was reported Wednesday morning along the 1200 block of Dominion Townes Terrace, near North Laburnum Avenue Creighton Road.
Police said two men dressed in utility clothes knocked on the door pretending to be with a gas company that was responding to a gas leak around 4 a.m. The homeowners didn't answer the door.
Around 4:45 a.m., the two men returned. The homeowner opened the door, and the two men forced their way inside. One of the suspects had a weapon. One of the homeowners told WTVR CBS 6 the suspect pointed that gun at them. There were two kids in the home at the time, according to the homeowner.
Once inside the townhouse, the machete-wielding homeowner confronted the gunmen.
One man, home at the time, agreed to speak to CBS 6 as long as we didn't show his face because the suspects are still at large.
"By the grace of god, it’s nothing but a blessing, because if that gun hadn't jammed, he would've shot her," he said and pointed at his girlfriend.
The gunmen took the machete from the homeowner and then ran off, police said. Nothing else was taken from the home.
The first suspect is described as a black male between 18 to 24 years old. He was five feet six to five feet seven inches tall and weighed between 160-175 pounds. Police said he had a "very" dark complexion, thin, very pronounced cheek bones and was clean-shaven with closely cut hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, reflective vest, white hard hat and armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.
The second suspect is also described as a black male between 18 to 24 years old. He was five feet eight to five feet nine inches tall and weighed between 150-165 pounds. Police said he was light-skinned, wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, reflective vest and white hard hat.
No one was hurt in the incident.
