HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- A tip to Hanover investigators resulted in the arrest of Tsz Kit Zane Theodore Yung on charges of felony hit and run.

Yung, 23, was arrested late Sunday night, according to Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. James Cooper.

Yung is accused of hitting 42-year-old Denise Gorondy Sunday while the Hanover mother was out for a morning run.

A cyclist found Gorondy lying on the side of Dunns Chapel Road a little before 7:15 a.m. She was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries.

Sunday evening, investigators announced they had located the red Toyota RAV 4 believed to have been involved in the crash.

"Social media helped us out," Cooper said. "Citizens saw it [the vehicle] on our Facebook page. I think we had over 100 shares of people getting the information out. Within an hour we had thousands of people knowing the description of the vehicle."

Investigators said a neighbor recognized the vehicle and called in the tip that led to the arrest.

Yung, who appeared in court Monday morning, was being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail.

Online court records showed Yung had been charged in 2012 for driving after illegally consuming alcohol as a minor.

"I am extremely grateful to the media for their coverage of this incident and to the public for providing the information which led to a quick apprehension. I encourage the public to keep the victim and her family in their thoughts and prayers," Hanover Sheriff Colonel David Hines said.

Gorondy is a doctor at Three Oaks Equine Veterinary Services in Goochland.

“I would say she’s been running for eight to 10 years. I can remember I’d see her out here running,” said Denise Gorondy’s neighbor Edith Seay. “My son said it looked like somebody had hit a deer, he never saw so much debris.”

Sherry McClanahan is struggling with the news that her Three Oaks Equine vet, that is always just a text away is in need of help herself.

Like the rest of Dr. Gorondy’s concerned clients, she’s been glued to updates on her friend and dedicated doctor.

“We just hope for the best. Hope that she makes a remarkable recovery, remarkable full recovery, so that she can get back to taking care of horses and taking care of her family,” said McClanahan.

Gorondy underwent surgery Sunday night for a bleed in her brain. She is in stable condition and breathing on her own.

A fund has been set up to help the Gorondy family with medical expenses. http://www.gofundme.com/denisegorondy

Yung is scheduled to be arraigned June 28 at 9am.
