CULPEPER COUNTY,Va. — A 19-year-old Manassas woman was rushed to the hospital after she was shot while standing on the porch during a party at the Inn at Kellys Ford in Culpeper. The house where the party took place is removed from the main campus of the resort, investigators said.

The shooting victim, identified as 19-year-old Samantha Sloan, was last listed in stable condition.

Investigators are looking for three men last seen leaving the party in a white or beige mini-van.

“Early reports are that the gunshots first came from the vehicle and persons at the house responded in kind. The victim was on the porch of the house when she was shot,” a Culpeper Sherif’s Office spokesperson said. “Shell casings found at the scene indicate multiple guns were fired both from the porch of the house and from the van.”

The shooting happened after the suspects were not allowed into the party, investigators said.

“Approximately 100 people were at the house party when the incident occurred. The house had been rented for three days to end the morning of June 5,” investigators said. “When deputies from Culpeper and Fauquier County arrived at 2:26 a.m. [Sunday] the scene was deserted and appeared to have been exited rapidly by party goers.”

Deputies closed Edwards Shop Road to traffic while forensic technicians looked for evidence.

The sheriff’s office did not know about the shooting until doctors at Fauquier Hospital told the Fauquier Sheriff’s Office about the shooting victim. Fauquier investigators notified the Culpeper Sheriff’s Office once it was determined the shooting took place in Culpeper.

This is a developing story.
