HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A former football coach at Armstrong High School and Meadowbrook High School has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for malicious wounding.
Kedrick D. Moody, 37, of Henrico, entered an Alford plea in February for badly beating a man who was seeing a woman Moody had dated.
An Alford plea is when the defendant doesn’t admit guilty, but concedes that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict them.

Friday, Moddy was sentenced to 10 years with 6 ½ years suspended. Moody will serve 3 ½ years of the sentence.
The malicious wounding incident occurred on March 28, 2015 at the Econo Lodge along the 7300 block of West Broad Street.
Surveillance video showed a man get out of a car and walk up the stairs as two people were coming down. Brief words were exchanged and then, in the video, a man can be seen pummeling the other man.
The male victim suffered severe injuries including a fractured jaw and a gash to the back of the head.
Moody spent three years as the head coach at Armstrong High School, before accepting the same position at his alma mater, Meadowbrook High, in January of 2015.
He served as a volunteer at the time of his arrest and was dismissed before officially becoming an employee of Chesterfield County schools.
