May was also a cool month with about two-thirds of the days producing below-normal high temperatures.  Prior to the string of 80s towards the end of the month, it was the second coolest May on record, but the month ended up not even ranking in the top ten coolest Mays.  The monthly temperature average was 2.6° below normal.
