Lakeside tailgating leads to road rage incident, arrest

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — An Amelia man was charged with brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident in Lakeside, according to Henrico Police.

Samuel Thomas Mayes II, 47, was charged after police responded to a Lakeside neighborhood where investigators said Mayes followed the victim.

“The investigation revealed that Mayes and the victim were involved in an altercation at the intersection of Brook Road and Azalea Avenue after Mayes believed he was being tailgated by the victim,” a Henrico Police spokesperson said. “Mayes then followed the victim to the intersection of Parkside Avenue and Cottage Street where the altercation continued and Mayes brandished a firearm.”

The incident was reported Thursday afternoon.

Mayes was charged at about 4:20 p.m., according to online arrest reports.
