RICHMOND, Va. -- A storm that we have been tracking all week will move through the area tonight and Saturday.  Rain will spread across the state tonight, mostly after midnight, and then turn steady before morning.

The heaviest rainfall will occur before noon Saturday.  During the afternoon, the rain will be more showery and occasional in nature.  The heaviest rain totals will occur between midnight and noon Saturday.

The storm will move away from the area on Sunday, but it will still be close enough to wrap around a few showers.  Additional rain totals will not be very heavy.  A few thunderstorms will be possible as well.

Here is one computer model's portrayal of what may fall between Friday night and Sunday evening, with many areas falling in the 1 to 2 inch range.

Looking at many different runs of the different computer models over the past few days, the forecast rainfall amounts range from 0.74" to over 3.00".  The running average for Richmond is just over 1".

The storm may wrap another shower or two across the area on Monday, but we should see dry weather beginning Tuesday.  The dry weather will also be accompanied by highs getting back into the 80s.
