RICHMOND, Va. - Twenty-two new recruits graduated from the Richmond Police Department Thursday morning.
While it was a special day for these new officers, Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham spoke about how this extra man power is desperately needed.
Durham has told WTVR CBS 6 about the shortage his department is face.
He has said previously he is down around 40 officers and had asked City Council for more funding for his department.
Durham had mentioned that officers have been leaving the department to go to other jurisdictions for higher pay.
This is the 112th class to graduate from the department.
