RICHMOND, Va. — Showers and thunderstorms have returned to the Commonwealth. The best chance of rain in central Virginia will be between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Highs will stay in the low 60s.

Rain will continue to be likely Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with dry conditions by Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Both Thursday and Friday will be dry and mild days, as high pressure settles into the region. Rain will return to the area late Friday night as a slow-moving storm system moves into the region. Saturday currently looks like a washout, but Sunday will bring a better opportunity for some periods of dry weather.

The storm system will be slow leave the area, keeping rain chances in the forecast through early next week.

On a positive note, the risk for severe weather appears very low over the next 7 days.
