TUPELO, Mississippi — The names of four people killed when their Charlottesville-bound plane crashed in Mississippi have been released.

The Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green identified the victims as 75-year-old pilot Henry L. Jackson, his wife 70-year-old Gwynn Groggel, 69-year-old Dr. Charles Torti, and 59-year-old Carrie Torti. All four crash victims hailed from Texas.

The Texas Wing Civil Air Patrol identified Jackson and Groggel as members and victims of the crash

“They were members of the Kerrville Composite Squadron and were responsible for starting the squadron back in the 1990s,” a Facebook post read.

An investigation into what caused the crash remains on-going.

All four were killed when the Beechcraft Bonanza 36 crashed shortly after takeoff from Tupelo, Mississippi.

Just before the crash, the FAA said the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
