DELTONA, Fla. — Cowabunga! A turtle on Interstate 4 in Florida turned into a projectile Monday, shattering a car’s windshield and ending up on a motorist’s dashboard.

At about noon, Nicole Marie Bjanes of Orlando was westbound on I-4 near Deltona traveling about 70 mph when a vehicle in front of her 2014 Volkswagen Jetta ran over the turtle, according to a Florida traffic crash report.

The turtle was thrown into the air, striking the Jetta’s windshield and shattering it, and ended up on the Jetta’s dashboard, News 13 reports.

Bjanes was treated for minor cuts at the scene.

The turtle, meanwhile, was unharmed and released back into a pond adjacent to I-4, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.
